Third Fork Report: An Image Is Worth a Thousand Words
April 4, 2018
April 4, 2018
It has now been a week since our third hard fork introduced truly decentralized payment enforcement to the MAG network and we can now confirm its success.
We have passed 70% adoption of the wallet on version 1.4 and all services (exchanges and pools) have also transited to adopt the new protocol. Many thanks to the community for helping each other during the transition, we are moving another step further toward our goals.
For a reminder of the fork purpose and technical aspects please look at this article: Masternodes, Miners and Decentralization.
We have been publishing comprehensive spreadsheet reports during the whole period and you can consult them on the #Announce channel on Discord.
Additionally, inspired by spreadsheets produced by our members (especially IOServer), I have created a bunch of friendly graphs to chart the current reward distribution since 28th of March till 2nd April, 2018.
A total of 5057 payments were made to 1204 unique payees (out of 1410 payees) over the past week. We believe that the reward distribution is now reaching equilibrium and with the upcoming masternode pool service most users will be able to find satisfaction in the coming months.
The mining ecosystem is also moving from monopoly to oligopoly which will allow for greater network stability and security on the long run.
Upcoming Masternode Manager App Update
Iterating even further on this, we have decided to integrate these graphs with real-time data feed into the Android App and this is what is coming next as soon as the Merchant Tools are released (Being free from the fork emergencies, we are now catching up on this roadmap item!).
Basically, the app will provide a few screens (very similar to the Google Analytics app) that will allow anyone to monitor and query these useful charts fed from real-time network data. Screens will also be posted daily on Discord (#Announce) and other social channels for convenience.
We invite you to watch out for our releases as we will be increasing the pace to provide fixes, performance and stability enhancements to the core code as we move toward our MW2.0 roadmap work.
Our goal is to provide at least 2 bigger releases every month along with smaller wallet updates. In this process and to ensure a better network integrity, we will also be phasing out support for versions that fall behind two minor releases (e.g. 1.3 wallets running masternodes will not be supported anymore as soon as we release 1.5 and so on).
More details will be provided in time.
That’s all for now, thanks again to the community for making our trip a success and if you have not done so yet, please update your wallet with the latest version.
